Week One Round-up and Thank you!

Afternoon!

Firstly a massive thank you to all those that have sponsored me (you know who you are). So far I have raised £95 of my £300 target. This is fantastic, especially since I know how tight things are in Jan, so thank you so much.

I've been doing a mixture of exercise, from walking, weights and jogging.
I have also accomplished my first week target of being able to run a mile without stopping (see below).
This did NOT come as easy as id hoped! I've got a lot of work to do, but thankfully a decent amount of time to get it done.

Below is a summary of my "progress" so far:
  • Weight lost: 5lb
  • Day's eating healthily: 9
  • Day's without Alcohol: 9
  • Distance able to run continuously: 1 Mile
  • Money Raised: £95
  • Muscles Aching: 850

Pub+No Beer=Hell Freezing Over

Afternoon!

Went for a good 20 mins jog this morning. I'm Aiming to be able to run a mile by Saturday without stopping/crying/heavy panting like a sex offender.

In other news, I frequented the Pub today to watch the footie....and in a world's first, had a coke. A DIET COKE!!!! Photographic proof.

No, it's not a Guinness, honestly. The scales are telling me I'm down 3lb since Thurs, but it's more than likely water weight, or the weight of a pint of larger which is a usual staple.

PLEASE sponsor me if you haven't already. Click on the big red button in the top right. It's for a good cause!

Thanks

First Jog (126 days to go)

Afternoon!

Today I embarked on my first bit of conscious exercise in over a year. I was fresh, having avoided all alcohol on friday night (*pat on the back*). I'd like to say things are looking good, but I am desperately unfit. Good job i've made an early start!

I managed to run a total of 0.87 miles. ROCK! Well, I say run. I walked a quarter of that coming back uphill.

To be honest, I set out this morning with these goals:

  • Avoid heart attack
  • Remain conscious
  • Avoid injury
  • Make it back home
I'm going to chalk this off as an overwhelming success. Got to stay positive.

I'll head out again tomorrow morning and look into doing some weight training at the start of the week. I've had the Rocky Theme tune on loop in my head these last few days. ADRIAANNNN!!!!

Wish me luck.

PLEASE sponsor me if you haven't already by clicking HERE or at the top right of this page. It's for a good cause!

  • Days Left: 126
  • Money sponsored so far: £65.00
  • Target: £300

It Begins

I'm 26 and out of shape! I've Let myself go in recent months, haven't done any exercise in over a year, and enjoy a diet of beer and junk food. So I signed up for a 10k race obviously!

I'll be running the Great Manchester Run May 15th 2011.
I felt by signing up to this it would give my arse the motivation to shape up. Whats more, I intend to document my transformation from cuddly beer fiend, to athletic health monkey throughout the five months, to make a mini film and update this blog. I don't intend to take it to Cannes or anything, but I feel by documenting/recording every step of the way will give me that extra reminder to keep at it. Sort of a Run Fatboy Run. But documentary style. Without Simon Pegg. And More shit.

Most important of all, I will be running for Charity, on behalf of Oxfam and need £300 of sponsor money to be eligible to run. It's for a worthy cause.
